BARCA acquired the Salamá farm, comprising more than 1,000 hectares, in 2006 with the purpose of reforesting it for European investors. At the time of acquisition, the property consisted of melina plantations previously managed and harvested by Ston Forestal. Prior to the melina plantations, the land had mainly been used for cattle farming and, in earlier years, banana cultivation. The farm was planted with teak between 2006 and 2009, following the highest silvicultural standards and under international FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) forest certification. Teak harvesting was carried out on several sections of the property in 2019, and more recently the final harvesting and clearing operations (including removal of regrowth, trunks, branches, etc.) on the remaining sections were completed in May 2026.
